This route takes the long way 'round between Eugene and Roseburg. It twice traverses the coastal range of mountains and offers spectacular ocean views along the Pacific Coast highway.
On the coast just north of Florence, visit the Sea Lion Caves, which are packed with scores of the barking growling pinnipeds.
At Umpqua, you'll see the first lighthouse built on the Oregon coast.
The small but charming logging museum in Myrtle Point is another highlight of this route.
From Myrtle Point, the route loops back inland and rolls into Roseburg where you can enjoy a fine meal at an old railroad station.
